The Porsche Design P1700 Cannes moccasin, which recently won an international award for superior design quality in the 2011 Red Dot Product Design Awards, is available at the flagship store in Hyde Park Corner.
The new model moccasin shoe is functional and timeless in design, characterised by the use of an asymmetrical, racing inspired sole profile and a striking aluminum insert in the sole, which increases comfort and stability.
The typical Porsche Design moccasin construction is fundamentally different to other shoe designs. In the manufacture process, the upper leather is stretched over the underneath of the shoe to form the sole which becomes an integral part of the shoe. As opposed to the TPU sole being fitted separately and sewn on, it is injected directly through the leather to create the unique sole design. The complete lack of seaming of the sole is the key to achieving the perfect moccasin style and providing an elegant appearance.
“We focus on technically inspired products with a timeless, functional and purist design,” explains Dr Juergen Gessler, CEO of the Porsche Design Group. “Our aim is not to follow fashion trends, but to create durable products – as trends come and go, but design is forever. Over 1700 companies from 60 countries submitted over 4400 entries into this year’s Red Dot Design awards, and we are very proud that the P1700 Cannes moccasin scooped the award in the “fashion and accessories” category,” added Gessler.
